Earth Day Event: April 23rd, 2016

For the Love Earth: Kirtan & Meditation Experience

Join us in yoga communion as we sing the praises of Mother Earth in the presence of her depth, beauty, and wisdom...
Gaya Shelton-Ostadi, Casey Dugan, Trish Pascual (Prema),
& Jacques Pinchon

Gathering in circle under a big, oak tree, Gaya, Casey, and Trish will be leading this Earth Centered Kirtan & Meditation to open our voices and deepen in connection with nature...activating a call to action to align with her once again and bring balance to our lives.  Our thechnological and modern tendency to manipulate her laws and stray away from her teachings has brought disharmony...CLEARLY!  So, we gather, we sing, we create intention to return to our original, natural state of mind, body, and spirit as wisdom keepers of her living library!  Kirtan is a bhakti yoga (call and response) practice of singing mantra/chants/song to open our hearts back UP to the divine.  Our (2) 10 minute meditations will spiral the vibrational sound healing right to that sacred temple space within each of us.  We humans, in such dire need to return again and again to this wellspring of life, shall return to a more sanctified relationship with the earth...such is the intention of our gathering this day.  Please join us in remembering how special it is to be living on this earth at this time!

*With each Kirtan leader bringing their unique touch...Gaya's love of classical call and response, Casey's songwriting talent, and the bridging to the Pacific Islands through Hawaiian chant, song, and a special HULA DANCE & LEIS by Trish, our celebration of Earth day after Earth Day will usher in, if just a little bit, a more conscious way of living in mindfulness of our planet...the living earth!!!

$25 tickets must be purchased in advance by:
Gaya 707-239-3650, Trish 808-269-2638, or Casey

*Details will be sent via email as to exact park location

Learn to turn off the beta brain wave state of day to day active mind and bathe your nervous system with the much needed alpha, theta, delta, & turiya brain waves.  Your ability to synchronize your brain to these successive brain wave states is your ability to reach higher levels of consciousness!  In the alpha state there is real relaxation, visualization, & creativity. In theta, there is intuition, memory, & meditation.  In delta, there is presence without attachment, deep rest and healing.  In turiya, there is blissful absorption into pure consciousness beyond ego identity...supreme indeed... ~*~

All the tools and techniques of yoga have been bestowed upon us precisely as navigation tools for each of our unique journeys through this life. The better we utilize our life force energy and direct it in this way, the better we get at unraveling habits and negative patterns that don't serve us, the better we get at releasing tendencies and reactions that block and limit our potential in all areas of our lives.

However, the mind with all the unconscious programming we have allowed in, must be trained and like any training, there must be a system.  Each persons system will ultimately take shape according to their unique personality and needs but to begin, there have been many sages or rishis in our earths history who have successfully charted the way...sages and rishis who have been able to hold chosen brain wave states at will for extended periods of time.

In our day and age of growing impatience due to the fast paced lifestyle of our modern, technological age of instant this and that, it becomes more and more challenging to train the mind in this way.  To counterbalance the desire for immediate gratification with a steady slowing down of everything can be a hell of a fight.

So to gather as one mind with the sole intention of training ourselves to quiet down and really listen and observe ourselves in the laboratory of meditation, is truly an art of refinement and self-mastery.  To be a brave soul and face your self and your inner workings with all the light and  shadows of our individual soul spectrum, in this day and age, is an act to be commended.

If you have ever wondered how to begin to chart your way to greater states of awareness and change, come join us in group meditation.  The intention and focus of the group can be very helpful in launching and supporting your journey and inspire your discovery toward a more true witnessing of yourself and your life...

Living Yoga...Food is Medicine Retreats: Spring & Summer 2016

Living Yoga Retreats:
Northern California
We are gearing up for an opportune time to cleanse the body/mind and release any toxic build up from winter.  Like nature around us, it is the onset of Spring where the old, dead debris and waste gets ushered out by the fresh blooms and sprouting of new, vital growth.

I'd like to invite you to recalibrate your health potential by synchronizing your life and lifestyle with the cleansing cycles of our living earth! Join us on a delicious, nourishing, cleansing yoga and food odyssey! Learn how to rewire your body systems to achieve optimal health, healing, and fitness through strong yoga conditioning and healthier eating habits!
On retreat, the recalibration occurs at dawn!  We wake together to the sound of singing bowls for sunrise meditation...learning to cultivate deep contentment and joy by stilling the ripples of the mind and establishing our sacred space within.  This space is the eye of the storm where you become empowered in your divine self, your highest soul expression and where you fill with compassion and self-love for your human self, your ego identity.
Then, we increase body/mind awareness and conditioning of body systems with a well-rounded yoga posturing class that gives you a physical tune up in vitality.  Ready for nourishing fuel, we alkaline w/ vitamin and mineral rich green juices in the morning to help support elimination pathways.  In the afternoon, we recharge with superfood smoothies to counterbalance oxidation.  The morning and afternoon discourse take place while we drink our liquid nutrition drinks above.  We weave heightened understanding of yoga, ayurveda, food, & sacred living into our day.  All are taught and discussed as ancient sciences for living potential.
Preparing all meals together, we gather around to learn how to establish, prepare, and serve organic, plant-based meals as medicine to help our bodies reach optimal nutrition for optimal health.  First we will focus on how to purify your diet and clean out your digestive tract; second, learn how to eat to flush out & strengthen liver function; third, how to heal your intestinal lining; fourth, how to balance hormones; fifth, how to fortify your immune system; and sixth, how to eat for deep nutrition through superfoods...
When these steps are taken on deeper and deeper levels each season or each retreat, your body becomes equipped to return to homeostasis, the place of optimal balance whereby all cells are vital w/ life force and given proper building blocks to regenerate wellness!  They begin communicating and interacting in the right gears at the right times.  From here, health and healing can improve because the proper conditions have been layed as groundwork.

We cannot come to true health without laying the groundwork, the foundation for all body systems to function properly!!!!

Focusing on the sacredness of food and the medicine each plant offers, radishes for sulphur which is good for the skin, blueberries in our smoothies to reduce oxidation in the body, and hemp seeds to boost the quality of protein intake for example, your relationship to food and eating will change for the better.
Our digestion well cared for by healthy eating habits like eating together, chewing fully, and eating slowly, a practice of ritual is remembered and enjoyed, a big missing link in our modern society.
So, in essence, joining us on our living yoga & food is medicine retreats, whether for a weekend intensive or a full week, is an odyssey about returning to sacred living and eating.  Here are some delicious peaks at the qualilty of our meals:

Buckwheat pancakes w/ blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, coconut cream, lemon zest and sprinkled w/ mint leaves

Stealcut Oatmeal w/ coconut milk, coconut shreds, cinnamon nut trail mix and a drizzle of grade b maple syrup

Broccoli & black bean Asian stir fry w/ brown rice & ginger namo shoyu sauce

Sauteed brussel sprouts and potato salad w/ homemade cesar dressing, avocados, hempseeds, red bell peppers & tomatoes
With open, personal time in the afternoon to enjoy the uniqueness of our N. California retreat home (different & unique each time), everyone has space for inner reflection.  We end the day with afternoon yoga posturing and sunset meditation, initiating the inner alchemy of transformation to occur into the evening and especially during a good nights sleep.  After the group prepares and eats dinner, we open to community building, sharing, and celebrating with song/mantras...
From the gorgeous master bedroom of the house...all rooms in this retreat house last year in tasteful Asian, zen decor and style

The support and encouragement around time well spent, together with others, in this light, serves as a great reminder of what we are each truly capable of when we take the time to stop and remember and learn how to honestly care for ourselves.  In this way we are all more able to take care of others.  The world from the inside out, is improved...one person at a time...learning and incorporating better habits and practices, more nourishing foods, and surrounding ourselves w/ people who want to thrive and live their potential!
